Women and girls living in Hertsmere are being offered the chance to receive a free gym membership.

Hertsmere Leisure, which manages sports facilities in Borehamwood and Potters Bar, wants to hear from women between 14 and 25 who have not exercised for a year or more.

The trust has a limited number of three-month memberships available, which can be used in Borehamwood’s The Venue or the Furzefield Centre in Potters Bar.

During the three months, members must exercise three times a week for at least 30 minutes and agree to have their body statistics measured at regular intervals.

The information is being gathered as part of a project in partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council who have received £162,750 of National Lottery funding from Sport England’s community sport activation fund to help women and girls get fit.

Mobashar Mahmood, Hertsmere Leisure’s partnership manager, said: “This is a great opportunity for women and girls aged 14 to 25 who are thinking of taking up exercise to get more active more often.

“We will have one-to-one consultations with participants, provide a personal programme which we will review regularly with them, and track their progress over the three months."

Those who would like to apply can do so by visiting the council's website - the closing date is Friday, August 22.
