A football fan is organising a charity match in memory of his father and friend, both of whom died of cancer.

Andy Vincent, of Crispin Road, Edgware, is encouraging people to come down to Silver Jubilee Park, in Kingsbury, on September 26, where Hemel Hempstead FC and Hendon FC will compete in a friendly match to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The event will honour both Mr Vincent's father Les Vincent, who died of cancer in June aged 52, and his friend Steven Cheesewright, who died aged just 30 in 2011.

Mr Vincent, 28, said: “I decided to do the event because I wanted to do something positive while raising awareness of cancer at the same time.

"I want to look up to the sky at the end of the night and know that I have done them both proud."

Mr Vincent hopes to raise £500 for the cause and there will be a bake sale as well as a winner’s trophy.

The event will be held from 6.30pm.
