Barnet will return to the Football League next season after beating Gateshead 2-0 at the Hive on Saturday - but if you missed it, here's a roundup of our coverage and analysis.

Sports reporter Tom Bodell was at the match, and wrote this report of the game that capped manager Martin Allen's glorious return to the club he left in 2004.

In an interview after the match, Allen told the Times Series he had known since before the season began that the Bees would win the Conference - and he also revealed he felt he had paid supporters back since leaving the club for more money.

For his part, Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous compared Allen to a girlfriend he could not get rid of - adding that hopefully the club would now be big enough for the manager.

Kleanthous praised Mauro Vilhete, whose two goals brought Barnet victory, and revealed an ambition to play in League Two, after becoming the only team who will ever win the Conference three times.

Vilhete, the club's longest-serving player said his opening goal, a header in the 26th minute, and his second from a corner, came from the club's preparation for set pieces.

And striker Michael Gash, who came to Barnet from Kidderminster Harriers, said winning the Conference was the best moment of his career after missing out on promotion in previous seasons.
