A slip road onto a major motorway in Watford was blocked for more than an hour this morning after a four vehicle collision.

Emergency services were called to the entry slip road for the M1 at junction 5 (Watford) after four cars collided just after 8am this morning.

Two cars, a Nissan Almera and a Ford Fiesta, had to be recovered because they were blocking the slip road and Natalie Dearman, spokesman for Hertfordshire Constabulary, confirmed the road was clear at 9.25am.

Fire crews were also called because they received calls to say fuel was leaking from two cars, but Andrew Dawson, spokesman for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue confirmed they did not need to anything when they arrived.

One crew from Garston Fire Station attended the scene.
