A 57-year-old man was arrested after a cannabis factory was discovered in Hendon.

Police raided the property in Rundell Crescent on Wednesday, July 22 at about 8am after receiving a tip-off it was being used to grow drugs.

Officers found cannabis plants and large plastic containers full of the drug. Cash was also seized from the kitchen.

No one was inside the property at the time.

At about 2pm, the homeowner, a 57-year-old man, returned and was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and abstraction of electricity.

He has been bailed to return in mid-September and enquiries continue.

PC Eric Karaiskou, who is leading the investigation, said: "Cannabis factories pose a serious fire risk not only to the property they are being cultivated in but also to neighbouring properties as well.

"This is an excellent result for the local community, who we depend upon to provide us with information about crime and anti-social behaviour in their neighbourhood."
