Two women were punched, kicked and had their mouths covered by masking tape after two people broke into a home.

Detectives are apppealing for information after the aggravated burglary in Thornton Way, Golders Green on June 18.

The victims, aged 38 and 49, were later taken to hospital, with one treated for a cracked rib.

At about 9.30am that morning, the two women heard a knock on the door. As the 49-year-old woman opened it, two men pushed passed, knocked her to the floor and kicked her in the stomach.

After hearing the commotion, the 38-year-old woman came down the stairs, where she had her hair pulled and head banged against the stair banister.

Both women had masking tape put around their mouths.

One of the men stayed with the women downstairs, while the second ransacked the house.

They fled with cash and jewellery before getting into a waiting black Peugeot, which made off along Thornton Way, and turned left into Middleway.

Both suspects have been described as black men, about 6ft tall, wearing long dark jackets with a reflective pattern on.

Officers have released an image of earrings that were taken during the burglary.
