A 15-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after he was stabbed in Whetstone.

Police were called to Athenaeum Road at about 3.20pm on Thursday, September 3.

The road was cordoned off while police dealt with the scene.

The Metropolitan Police said: "Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the scene and found a 15-year-old boy having suffered a number of stab wounds.

"He was taken to a central London hospital where his condition is currently believed to be non life threatening.

"The injured boy's family are aware."

Eyewitness Lucy Lovelace, 38, was sitting in her car on High Road, Whetstone when she heard about the stabbing.

She said: “My mum came back to the car, and she said a boy has been stabbed five or six times. We went and had a look, and saw him get taken away in the ambulance. He was in school uniform, and I saw his family arrive. Apparently it was his first day back at school.

“There were loads of police, and a massive police van. They were going through all the dustbins looking for weapons, and looking under every car. It was all cordoned off, it was sealed off till quite late last night.

“There was lot of blood where he was stabbed, at the side of the Monkey Nuts restaurant. Normally things like that don’t happen round there, it is a nice, affluent area.”

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
