A MOTHER is demanding to know why doctors have refused to give her daughter a drug which she believes could save her life.

Liora Rosenberg, who lives in Hendon, has a bleed on the brain and pneumonia and has been on life support at the Royal London Hospital since last Monday.

Her mother, Lauren Rosenberg, believes Vitamin C could help the 20-year-old wake up but doctors say there is not enough evidence it will work.

She is due to have a brain test tomorrow which could see her declared clinically dead - but her family are fighting for this not to happen.

On a Facebook group set up in Liora’s honour, Mrs Rosenberg wrote: “Crisis – everything is a struggle here and unfortunately no-one is listening to me or my request.”

But she told the Times Series: "The nurses have gone above and beyond with their care for my daughter. They have been a great help. The family really appreciate it."

Last week, doctors warned Liora's family she may not make it through the night three times but she defied their predictions.

However they have been unable to confirm whether she is brain dead due to high sodium levels, but hope to test tomorrow.

In the meantime, her family, including Liora’s sister, Judy, are asking people to pray for her recovery using her Hebrew name, Chaya Leah Rachel Bat Esther.

Yesterday, her dog Whisky came to visit her in hospital but there is no change in her condition.

A Just Giving page, set up by a family friend on Monday has already raised more than £14,000 for the Hatzola Ambulance Service.

It reads: “Let’s pull together, storm the heavens and donate anything that we can even if it’s small in the name of Liora – so we can bring a quick, speedy, complete recovery.

“Miracles can happen.”

Hedi Mulhall, media relations manager at the Royal London Hospital, said: "Our consultants and ward staff are in close contact with the family and meeting regularly.

"At the trust we will always listen to the wishes of our patients’ families whenever possible to ensure their involvement in decisions about care."
