EDGWARE's North London Collegiate is celebrating one of its best set of GCSE results.

More than half the year group at the collegiate in Canons Drive, gained straight A*s, and 75 girls achieved nine or more top grades.

An incredible 85 per cent of entries were graded A* and over 98 per cent were awarded A* or A.

English results saw all 106 girls in the year group achieve an A* or A.

The figure for maths was 99.06 per cent. Entries in eight other subjects were 100 per cent A* to A, including history, French and drama.

Lindsey Ingate, from Stanmore, achieved 11 A* grades and will go on to study A-levels in history, English, maths and economics at NLCS sixth form.

She said: “I’m feeling a mixture of excitement and relief. There’s such a build up and so much hard work has gone in to it and now I can relax. My parents were really pleased. My grandma actually started to cry.”

Bernice McCabe, headteacher at North London Collegiate said: “We are delighted with the results, which have been achieved through ensuring that our girls are stretched academically by offering rigorous qualifications such as the IGCSE, and by teaching beyond the syllabus. It is also the balance between extra-curricular interests and inspiring teaching which helps girls to achieve both success and enjoyment.”
