A GROUP of volunteers in Golders Green who collected over 1,000 tins of food to donate to homeless people are preparing to match or beat their record.

The Rotary Club of Golders Green donated the food to Homeless Action Barnet, along with £150, following a collection outside Tesco in Brent Cross where they asked customers to buy an extra can for those in need.

They will be doing the same thing outside Sainsbury’s in Golders Green this Saturday (September 3).

Chair of community service for the club Satnam Singh said: “We were overwhelmed by the reception we received last time and just how much good we could do for the homeless in Barnet.

“This is a problem that will persist so we are asking everyone to come along and do their bit, it only takes one or two cans to make a difference.”

Volunteers from the Rotary Club will be outside the store all day taking donations.
