A new Tesco store opening in North Finchley wants to prove its commitment to the community by hiring residents and donating to charity.
The Tesco Express in High Road, due to be opened next Tuesday (October 4) at 8am, has hired a team of 18 staff who live in the area.
At its official launch ceremony, at 10.30am the same day, store manager Shaista Ali will present a cheque of £500 to the North London Hospice charity.
She said: “We are delighted to be able to support the North London Hospice, as they do such wonderful work for the local community.
“My new team and I are looking forward to offering shoppers a bright and spacious new store with fast and friendly service.
“I was thrilled by the response we received to our recruitment drive. There were so many great applicants which made the decision very tough when it came to selecting the successful 18.”
From Wednesday October 5, the store will be open seven days a week from 6am to 11pm.
