Finchley & Golders Green MP RUDI VIS questions the credibility of a council which can forget about one of its schools.

I look forward with interest every month to the publication Barnet First, and have a particular interest in the 'spotlight on your ward' piece. Even I discover a thing or two I did not know about the constituency.

This month the focus was on Golders Green ward; an interesting ward covering the area around Clitterhouse playing fields opposite Brent Cross (Cricklewood to most) stretching all the way to Henlys Corner.

It is a diverse community as you may guess.

Finchley & Golders Green has a high number of Jewish constituents, but also has one of the largest Catholic parishes in London. Golders Green ward contributes to both communities and many of the community and education amenities reflect this.

I am very proud to represent such a diverse community.

I was then somewhat surprised when reading through the directory of 'What's in Golders Green' to note that only three schools were listed.

Having sat on Barnet Council's education committee both in administration and opposition, I have always been passionate about the achievements of all the borough's community schools that once again have excelled, achieving splendid results at GCSE and A level.

I was therefore stunned to see that Whitefield School had been omitted. I looked again, but no; Whitefield School was missing.

This is a borough-wide publication and very much the baby of its leader. The same man championing the suburbs at every opportunity and declaring that he can be trusted, but how and why?

He has other ambitions, as you may well have gathered, but deleting a school in the constituency he has aspirations to represent makes you wonder why anyone should believe a word he says, whether in print, or not.

Another example of the Tories' ability to ignore the fact is the claim that our streets are clean, there is no problem with dog fouling, graffiti or fly tipping, and our parks are immaculate. My caseload says otherwise.

Are they living in a parallel universe? They talk of spin, but they are the ones spinning out of control.

It appears they have their heads in the sand. No wonder they hadn't noticed the huge error in their own publication. How many other mistakes are being swept under the carpet?

They spout statistics to back their claims, but when you continually move the goalposts what do they mean?
