Welcome to the EBOG weekly review. On a drizzly Saturday the 1st’s performance seemed affected by the dismal weather with little fluency or style. Things got worse when a long range effort skidded past Gary Haycock to put the 7th placed Old Alleyn’s ahead. However, with the fire power from Sam Berry and Rob Laney available, EBOG were always the likely victors. Three beautifully taken goals sealed it but it wasn’t until the last 15 minutes that the tension was removed.

Each successive game seems to gather more significance but with 6 victories on the bounce the 1sts are really rising to the occasion. Carshalton dropped two points on Saturday so one more lapse and the EBOG tigers could pounce on the title!

An embarrassing weekend for Crouch End Vampires! EBOG 3's were always likely to win but the margin and ease of victory were surprising. The game was notable for every outfield player scoring except for the 2 centre-backs Danny Pearce and Maj. Final score 10-1.

One match that looked an odds-on win was our 3rd placed 4th team against the bottom side, Alexandra Park. It was not to be, however, in a tightly fought game on the top pitch. Final score 3-4.

Another surprise was the scale of defeat for the 5ths who were 10 points above Old Esthameians and went over there with quite a strong side. Someone lost count because we came back with a different score to the one reported by OE’s.

The 6ths made no mistake rubbing salt into Crouch End’s wounds with a comprehensive win which makes them look very much safer.

The 7ths without a recognised goalkeeper, were playing the top side and it seemed to show. It made the 8ths result against the same side the other week look quite good.

Apparently the 8ths played some great stuff against 5th placed Stationers but couldn’t get the goals their play deserved. The brothers Capon were called upon at the last minute and became the first people to get lost going to Stationers half a mile down the road!
