I am writing to express my disgust at the allowances claimed by the Tory councillors.
I feel as if it is a breach of trust of those who voted for them in the recent election.
This unjustifiable, ill-timed act has come at a time when the Government has frozen public sector salaries, proposed massive cuts on frontline services and when unemployment is set to peak at 6.1 per cent this year.
I was fortunate enough to witness this atrocity at the Barnet Council meeting as I sat in the public gallery; it was evident the general consensus among the public was sheer abhorrence towards this outrageous decision.
This is another example of how Mr Cameron’s claim that “we are all in this together” is entirely redundant and abundantly incorrect.
We are being stabbed in the back and betrayed by these false councillors who actually voted to freeze their pay before the recent elections — clearly that was all just a show for the public.
