Martin Allen has dipped into the loan market to sign striker Sam Hoskins on a short-term loan deal from Yeovil Town, whilst Jamal Lowe has joined Hemel Hempstead in a three-month loan switch.

The arrival of Hoskins comes after captain Charlie MacDonald was ruled out for up to a month after suffering a knee ligament injury.

Hoskins, 21, joined the then-Championship Glovers from first club Southampton last summer but was unable to establish himself as a regular at Huish Park.

After making five substitute appearance and one start this season, Hoskins arrives at The Hive in an attempt to bolster the forward options available to Allen.

Top-scorer for Southampton's youth sides during four of his six seasons with the Saints, Hoskins has also spent time away from St Mary's on loan at Rotherham United and Stevenage.

The Dorchester-born forward made four first-team appearances for the Southampton - all in cup competions - before moving to Yeovil ahead of their first season in the Championship.

In total, he has made 27 appearances for Gary Johnson's side without scoring.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old forward Lowe has linked up with Conference South side Hemel Hempstead on a three-month loan deal.

The homegrown forward, who has made two first-team appearances this season, joins the Tudors in 14th place after eight games.

Lowe made his Bees debut in a 3-1 defeat by York City in August 2012 and has since gone on to make 14 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Hoskins is eligible to make his Barnet debut in Saturday's home game against Altrincham.
