Bees midfielder Luisma Villa scored his fifth goal in five matches in the 4-1 win over Chelmsford City and Martin Allen says the Spaniard has been tremendous for Barnet in recent weeks.

Villa netted the Bees’ final goal in their FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay win over City at The Hive on Tuesday to continue his fine scoring run.

The 25-year-old almost left Barnet in the summer. Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous had to persuade Allen to keep the former Racing Santander player.

It’s a decision that has more than paid off and Allen has been impressed with Villa’s contribution.

He said: “Luisma is getting fitter and stronger. He is a good professional and a really good guy.

“The game on Saturday (a 0-0 draw with Chelmsford) was probably a tough game for him to play in. It was a difficult mental game to play in.

“Perhaps I should have done something different and rested him before bringing him on when the game opened up. But he has been tremendous for us.”
