Chester will look to go some way towards avenging their 5-0 opening-day defeat at home to Barnet when they visit The Hive on Saturday.

Goals from Lee Cook (2), Charlie MacDonald, Andy Yiadom and Keanu Marsh-Brown ensured the Bees began the season in ideal fashion and took top spot on the opening weekend – only relinquishing it for three games since.

It has been an all together different story for Steve Burr’s Blues, who have overcome their crushing defeat on day one to move steadily towards the middle of the pack and currently sit in 14th – ten points clear of the relegation zone.

Unsurprisingly, boss Burr says the Blues will provide a different proposition for Martin Allen’s side this time around.

Speaking to the Chester Chronicle, he said: "I just think they'll see a different Chester this time.

"We know the type of sides they've put out for the FA Trophy and we know their main priority obviously is to get back into the Football League.

"I just want to go down there and show Barnet that wasn't us. We've come on a long way since we played them in the first game of the season.

"Looking back at that game, there were certain circumstances around it that led to the scoreline being what it was.

"We'll be looking to show them that we are better than that and I think they'll see that."

There have been changes to Burr’s squad since August, with former Scotland international Chris Iwelumo retiring earlier in the season.

Barnsley loanee Rhys Oates has returned to Oakwell after netting twice in five starts, whilst Fleetwood Town youngster Matty Hughes has also seen his temporary stay at the Swansway Chester Stadium cut short.

Ilkeston striker Kane Richards has joined on loan after scoring 12 times for the Evo-Stick League Premier Division side already this term.

The 20-year-old can also play out wide and after joining Chester on Wednesday, is expected to make his debut for the club at The Hive.

Burr told the Chester Chronicle: “Kane will give us some options and hopefully if everything’s right he’ll be in the squad for Saturday. He’s fits in with everything that we’re doing at the minute, and that’s pleasing.

“He’s been lower down but he’s a lad with plenty of potential I believe and hopefully one who’ll have a bright future ahead of him.”

Right-back John Disney has been recalled from Nantwich Town ahead of the Christmas schedule, with former Kidderminster Harriers boss Burr presiding over one of the division’s smallest squads.

Midfielder Peter Winn made his return from a six-week layoff in Tuesday’s 3-0 FA Cup second round replay defeat to Barnsley, however Josh O’Keefe (foot) remains sidelined.

The Blues have not played a Conference fixture since a 2-0 win against AFC Telford United on December 2 owing to their various cup commitments; drawing 1-1 with Telford in the FA Trophy first round.

Barnet and Chester have only met three times since the club was reformed as a phoenix club in 2010, winning one and losing one in the two seasons the sides have been in the same division.

Chester XI v Barnsley (16.12.14): Worsnop; Kay, Brown, Charnock, Roberts; Heneghan, James, Rooney, Mahon; McConville, Hobson.
