Michael Gash scored his first two goals as a Barnet player as the Bees returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory at Altrincham on Saturday.

John Akinde marked his return from suspension by netting a sixth-minute opener from the penalty spot after being pushed to the ground by defender Tom Marshall, who was dismissed for the challenge.

The lead was then doubled when Gash stuck out a toe to divert Luisma Villa's free-kick beyond Alty stopper Stuart Coburn, the goal initially being credited to the Spanish playmaker.

The hosts could have got one back before half time when Nicky Clee stepped up to take a penalty following a Bondz N'Gala foul but instead skied his spot kick.

Damian Reeves, the man who earned the Robins' penalty, did then halve the deficit after the break but the Bees secured the points when Gash nodded in his second.
