Hendon have announced they will play their first competitive game at Silver Jubilee Park when they face Corinthian Casuals in the London Senior Cup later this month.

The Greens, who currently share Harrow Borough’s Earlsmead home, have already played friendly fixtures on the 3G surface at Silver Jubilee Park but will host Corinthian Casuals in their quarter-final on Thursday, March 26.

Gary McCann’s side did the double over Witham Town in the Isthmian Premier Division this week, winning 2-0 at home on Saturday before claiming a 2-1 victory in Essex on Tuesday night.

Reflecting on Saturday’s win, sealed thanks to a Kezie Ibe brace, McCann told the club website: “I am delighted with the result and the overall performance.

“We have served up that type of performance in times of need a few times this season. The team has been very professional and focused. We said there would be errors.

“I thought we were excellent, defensively we were brilliant. This was not just the back four but the whole unit.

“But as well as we defended I thought we were outstanding in attack and we were very dangerous. Their defenders had to make more desperate challenges than our back line and their goalkeeper made some very good saves to back them up.”

An own goal from Witham’s Conor Mead handed Hendon a second-minute advantage on Tuesday before Daniel Emmanuel equalised. Aaron Morgan struck a 74th-minute winner for the visitors.

Victory leaves the Greens in fourth position, four points shy of Dulwich Hamlet in third but with the added bonus of four games in hand.

Next up for Hendon is trip to Hampton & Richmond Borough on Saturday before a home Isthmian League Cup semi-final tie with Margate on Wednesday.

Wingate & Finchley suffered a shock defeat on Tuesday as they lost 5-1 at relegation-threatened Harrow Borough.

David Knight handed the Blues a fifth-minute lead but Ben Long and Lewis Driver turned the contest around by the tenth minute.

Marc-Charles Smith added a third for the hosts before Wingate’s Mark Goodman was dismissed in the 33rd minute. David Taylor and Ryan Hope netted after the break to complete a miserable evening for the visitors.

Three days earlier, Wingate had bolstered their play-off hopes with a 2-1 win at Peacehaven & Telscombe.

Rob Laney handed Danny Nielsen and Dave Norman’s side the lead with a stunning left-footed volley in the 48th minute. Tommy Tejan-Sie put Wingate 2-0 up on the hour when he beat two defenders and fired home low.

Jamie Brotherton pulled back a last-gasp consolation for the home side but it was too little, too late.

Wingate sit eighth, a point below Saturday’s opponents Metropolitan Police, who occupy the fifth and final play-off berth.

In Spartan South Midlands Division One, Edgware Town did not have a fixture scheduled. They host Crawley Green on Saturday and travel to Baldock Town on Wednesday.
