Sumeet Sharma’s 87 was not enough to steer Finchley to victory as they lost by five wickets at Richmond in the Middlesex League Division One.

Having won the toss and opted to bat, Finchley openers Sayed Bukhari (29) and Fred Daeche-Marshall (28) put on an opening stand of 56 before the former was run out.

And just as they looked to be on the verge of crumbling, Sharma came to the crease and put on 87, including eight fours.

An unbeaten 56 from Frahan Butt as number eight helped boost the visitors’ total to 276 for seven.

Finchley made a quick breakthrough with the ball but the home side recovered from 18 for one as Andrew Lowe (135) took charge, reaching 279 for five to win.

Stanmore had opponents Ealing at 11 for two at one stage but could not make the most of that start and eventually lost by 53 runs in Division One.

Early wickets for Chamika Karunaratne (three for 59) and Abishek Kulkarni (three for 48) had Ealing reeling at 11 for two but they recovered well to post 245 for eight.

But hosts Stanmore were less than convincing in reply and despite a flurry of runs from the tail, which saw Marc Reingold (34) top score, they could only reach 192 for nine in their 42 overs.

Steve Selwood’s unbeaten century steered Totteridge Millhillians to a 39-run Championship win over Langleybury.

Selwood (103 not out), along with Hayden Butterworth (51) and Ross Sutcliffe (44 not out) were all in good form to help Totteridge reach an imposing total of 299 for four.

And a brave effort from Langleybury saw the visitors make it as far as 260 for eight before they ran out of time; Andrew Blincoe (three for 32) starring with the ball.

A below-par batting display saw Old Finchleians beaten by 15 runs at Old Albanians in Division One.

Chetan Depala Jnr. (three for 36), R. Thakkar (three for 34) and Jesal Rathod (two for 21) had seemingly put the away side in a good position after removing their hosts for 157.

However, Old Finchleians struggled with the bat and despite Hitesh Depala (64) and Rathod (41) offering some resistance, they were undone for 142.

A dire batting display saw Old Elizabethans unravel at Redbourn in Division Three A, losing by 81 runs.

Saglan Ahmed (three for 34) and Sean Price (three for 34) had both proved thorns in the side of Redbourn, who were skittled out for 173.

But the Elizabethans failed to capitalise in their run chase and were themselves dismissed for a paltry 92; Paul Lissowski (28) top scoring.

Mill Hill Village made light work of clinching a nine-wicket win over Hexton in Division Six B in a match interrupted by rain.

With the game reduced to 33 overs per side, visitors Hexton were skittled out for 62 as the Village took control.

And in reply only Naz Asif lost his wicket as Mill Hill got home inside 11 overs by reaching 63.

In a match reduced to 13 overs per side due to rain, Potters Bar clinched a 12-run win over Langleybury in Twenty20 Group B.

James Scott (26) and Harrison Palmer (29) top scored in a total of 79 for eight for Potters Bar, who then restricted their visitors to just 67 for nine.

Totteridge Millhillians are still searching for their first Twenty20 Group B win after a seven-wicket defeat by Harpenden on Sunday.

Chris Mason (67) and Selwood (45) looked to have provided a good foundation on which to build for Totteridge, with the home side closing on 177 for nine after minimal contributions from the middle order and tail.

But Harpenden lost just three wickets en-route to a winning total of 178 in reply.
