Hendon's Isthmian League Cup defence came up short on Tuesday evening as they were beaten on penalties by Kingstonian following a 2-2 draw.

Gary McCann's men won last season's competition but relinquished their grasp on the silverware against their Isthmian Premier Division rivals.

Kezie Ibe fired Hendon into a ninth-minute lead only for Jake Kempton to draw the K's level two minute later.

The Greens striker netted for a second time to put the hosts back in front before Pelayo Pico Gomez forced penalties with a second equaliser 12 minutes from time.

Dave Diedhiou was the only Hendon player to score from the spot as Kingstonian prevailed 3-1 in the shoot-out.

The Greens were beaten in the Isthmian Premier Division on Saturday, going down 2-0 at home to Metropolitan Police.

It took until the 66th minute for the deadlock to be broken, the Met's Taureen Roberts opening the scoring.

And a decisive second followed from Joe Turner 15 minutes later.

Hendon have this week moved on Ryan Wharton, who is expected to join Chalfont St Peter, and Aryan Tajbakhsh, who is expected to move to Cray Wanderers.
