Martin Allen faces a selection dilemma for Saturday’s game against Mansfield Town after Andy Yiadom was ruled thanks to his fifth yellow card of the season at Notts County on Tuesday.

The Barnet skipper will return in time for next weekend’s FA Cup second round tie at home to Newport County but will be forced to miss just his second League Two fixture of the season this weekend.

Transfer listed full-back Gavin Hoyte started at centre-back in the 4-2 loss against the Magpies in midweek. The summer signing has been involved regularly since being made available for transfer and could start once more, though.

Another option is the highly rated Hakeem Odoffin. The 17-year-old has been namechecked by Allen throughout the season as one to watch.

“I’ve also got a young player here called Hakeem Odoffin. You wait until you see him play. Oh my God, you just wait until you see that kid play,” said Allen recently.

He has twice been an unused substitute for League Two fixtures this season but Allen expects the 17-year-old former Reading prodigy to make his first team breakthrough in the near future.

He continued: “You will get the chance to see him play soon. It won’t be for long because he won’t be playing at Barnet for long because he will be a top player and he’s probably unfortunate he’s not in our team now.

“I knew a little bit about him but he’s been training with us for the past few weeks and he’s a fantastic young player.”

The other logical option would be Brentford loanee Josh Clarke. He started his loan spell with Barnet by playing at right-back but has since excelled as a right winger, scoring three times in his first four appearances for the club.
