Edgware Town needed a last-minute winner to pick up a 3-2 win at Wodson Park on Saturday and stay within a point of Spartan South Midlands Division One leaders Crawley Green.
Jack Ward gave the Wares the lead with a powerful header. However, the hosts drew level with a soft goal. A free-kick from 50 yards was allowed to blow into the penalty area before being turned home after a couple of bounces.
Parity was short-lived, though, and the Wares went in 2-1 up after half-time following a superb individual effort from Adem Ali.
Edgware struggled to create chances after the break and Wodson Park drew level for a second time from the penalty spot.
Chances came and went but in injury time Edgware were awarded a penalty of their own and Ward made no mistake to seal a dramatic win.
The Wares travel to New Bradwell St Peter tonight before hosting Langford on Saturday.
