Hadley kicked off their Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division campaign on Tuesday with a 2-0 defeat at Biggleswade United.

With Saturday's FA Cup goalscorer Hesham Benmansour unavailable, Alan Murray came back into the side.

Tom Milton and Michael Elliott also started in place of Mustafa Mutlak and Francis Tango who both picked up injuries during Saturday's win.

After a goalless first half in which Biggleswade enjoyed more possession but neither team created a number of goalscoring opportunities, the home side took the lead just before the hour mark following good work on the wing from Nyasha Sagwete, who found Josh Sturniolo in the box.

He then made no mistake to finish past Hadley keeper Charlie Mann to open the scoring.

As Hadley pushed forward for an equaliser, Biggleswade doubled their lead on 75 minutes through Sergio Urbano.

Hadley increased their attacking options with Bilal Sanchez, Tyrone Mulholland and Samuel Odusoga all coming off the bench, but still could not find a way past a well organised Biggleswade team.

Hadley: Mann, Milton, Elliott (Sanchez), Sedgley (Odusoga), Lyon, Sabag, Jupp, Chrysanthou, Machado, Lukulay, Murray (Mulholland).

Substitutes not used: Kimpioka, North.
