Hadley made FA Cup history on Saturday by reaching the 1st Qualifying Round for the first time ever following an excellent 1-0 win at Hertford Town.

Hertford had a good chance to take the lead within the first minute after striker Tommy Wade found himself in on goal, but Wade's effort was blocked by defender Sam Lyon to keep the scores level.

Hadley responded well and played some good football in the opening stages. This continued throughout the half as Hadley had some good spells of possession, but despite this they failed to really test the Hertford keeper enough.

Hertford nearly took the lead with a very good long range strike but it hit the woodwork and the first half ended goalless.

Hadley took the lead in the second half when a Hesham Benmansour pass found Nick Chrysanthou clear of the Hertford defence.

Chrysanthou cooly rounded the Hertford keeper and slotted home to make it 1-0.

Hadley defended excellently throughout the second half and as Hertford pushed forward for an equaliser.

He should have extended their lead with Hesham Benmansour and Zaine Gangadeen both having excellent chances late on in the game.

Neither could find a way past the Hertford keeper but Hadley saw the game out to complete an excellent win and team performance to book their place in the next round, a home tie against London Colney on Saturday 3rd September.
