Barnet golfer Andrew Johnston finished third at the Omega European Masters this afternoon.

'Beef' Johnston closed with a five under par 65 to finish on 14 under par and three shots adrift of play-off winner Alex Noren.

It was a quiet start to his final round as he dropped a shot on the par three eighth but responded at the ninth hole with a birdie.

The North Middlesex Golf Club member found top gear on the back nine as he picked up five shots to come home in 30.

Johnston birdied the tenth hole and then eagled the par five 14th hole. He was not finished though as the popular golfer birdied the next hole.

A memorable performance in Switzerland finished with a birdie on the 17th hole and a par at the 18th wrapped up third place.

Rounds of 65, 68 and 68 had put Johnston into contention but the form of Noren and runner-up Scott Hend prevented him from challenging for the title.

It is his best result since he won the Open de Espana in April and puts him 15th in the Race to Dubai standings.
